Amy L. Whitewater
Board Member | Oklahoma Citizens for Education
Amy Whitewater brings more than two decades of experience in Oklahoma public education to the Oklahoma Citizens for Education board. Her career has spanned roles as a middle school English Language Arts teacher, school counselor, school-based mental health specialist, student support specialist, and now Project Manager for Project RESPECT at the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
A former Woodward Public Schools Teacher of the Year and VFW Oklahoma Middle School Teacher of the Year, Amy has dedicated her professional life to strengthening both academic systems and student well-being. Over the past several years, she has traveled across Oklahoma supporting districts in building comprehensive, data-driven systems that prioritize mental health, remove barriers to learning, and empower educators.
Amy’s passion for serving Oklahoma’s teachers and students is deeply personal. Public education is the foundation that shaped her life, and she feels a profound responsibility to give back to the system that built her. Having worked in both rural schools and at the state level, she understands the diverse needs of districts across Oklahoma and the grit and resilience demonstrated daily by educators.
Through her service with OCE, Amy is committed to ensuring that schools have the tools, training, and advocacy they need to thrive — because when educators are supported, students flourish.
